In 1961, a painter (Desmond Know-Leet) and interior designer/architect (Christiane Gautrot) and set designer (Yves Coueslant) opened shop on 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris. The boutique was filled with fabrics and exciting trinkets. In 1963 the three friends launched their own scented candles and by 1968 they created a a unisex fragrance called L'Eau.
The brand would grow and the trio would continue to add wonderful scents to the collection. They now have a large repertoire or fragrances, scented candles and a full body line.
